Moragahakanda Water Reservior starts to fill

Major project of Moragahakanda Tank will be started to fill water today by the hands of President Mr. Maithripala Sirisena.
This tank is about three times larger than the Parakrama Samudraya tank. Due to this project Wasgamuwa National Park lost its 10,000 acres area and it also consumes part of Elahera – Giritale National Park.
Ambanganga river and branch of Mahaweli river, Kalugaga are used to supply water to this tank. Three dams were constructed for this. After filled the tank it will create about 15 islands.
While filling water huger number of wild life will lost their living lands. Wild life reservation department has started a program combining with Disaster Management Department and Army to rescue subjecting wild life.
